The great mariachi singer Amalia Mendoza was also known as "La Tariacuri." "Tariacuri" is a word Mexico's Purepecha Indians used to refer to their king. Mendoza recorded on of her last albums with Lucha Villa and Lola Beltran in 1996. It was called "Las Tres Senoras."
