Creamfields N.Y. Cancelled

U.K. dance fest goes bust in U.S.

The New York edition of Creamfields, one of the U.K's biggest dance festivals, has been nixed. Scheduled for September 1st in Long Island, New York, the show was set to feature major acts like Fatboy Slim, Orbital, Crystal Method, Stereo MCs, Richie Hawtin, Darren Emerson and Josh Wink.

Poor ticket sales are cited by Cream, the U.K. producers of the show and SFX Clear Channel, the show's promoters, as the reason for the cancellation.

"Both Cream and Clear Channel are hugely disappointed that the event is not going to take place this year," said a Creamfields spokesperson. "All the artists and DJs involved were looking forward to participating in such a significant event for dance and electronic music. We would like to apologize to anyone who has already purchased tickets and to anybody who was planning on doing so."

The news comes on the heels of the cancellation of the Las Vegas edition of Creamfields, which had been scheduled to take place on September 29th. Problems with the venue were cited as the reason for that cancellation.
