(NEW YORK) - Nanci Griffith dropped a bombshell during a taping of the new PBS series Sessions At West 54th. Griffith, who embarks Sept. 5 on a three-month U.S. tour with her Blue Moon Orchestra, announced during the session that this will be her last tour with the band, with which she has worked for 11 years. According to Melinda Newman's report in Billboard Bulletin, Griffith's manager, Burt Stein, says he's not sure why Griffin is disbanding the group, except "she's worked 12 or 13 years without a break; she's worked very hard." Her long-term plans include dates with the Nashville Ballet, as well as "Other Voices Too," a follow-up to her acclaimed Elektra album of cover songs, Other Voices, Other Rooms. "That album will come out sometime next year, and we're working on a book companion piece as well as a film to go with that," says Stein.
