Straight from his tribute to Iggy Pop, Joey Ramone is getting on board yet another tribute show. This time, Ramone has teamed with a host of artists to pay homage to the classic rock group T. Rex and its lead singer/guitarist Marc Bolan.| The tribute takes place at Fez in New York City on Oct. 3 & 4 and will include Patti Rothberg, Lloyd Cole, Pat DiNizio (Smithereens), Jim Thirlwell (Foetus), Colleen Fitzpatrick (Eve's Plum), Theo (Lunachicks) and members of Bush Tetras, Blondie, Patti Smith Group and others. The tribute marks the 20th anniversary of Bolan's death as well as the 50th anniversary of his birth.
In related news, Mercury is releasing three classic T. Rex albums this fall -- Messing With The Mystic, Light Of Love and Live '77. Copies of those albums will be given away at Fez during the tribute show. (Ari Bendersky)
