The Clovers
One of the earliest rock bands, the Clovers melded the big rhythm of R&B with the rawness of blues and wailing gospel.
Many of the Clovers' early songs were written and produced by Atlantic Records founder, Ahmet Ertegun.
The twist of gospel-style vocals into their upbeat blues-influence, R&B songs helped lay the foundation for Soul music.
