Pete Bassman (aka Bain) added basslines to the early Spacemen 3 records before leaving in 1989 along with drummer Rosco. The pair then formed the Darkside, a project that avoided blues-based, droning aesthetics for a more identifiable Acid Rock bent. Their 1990 release All that Noise contained tracks such as "Guitar Voodoo" that evoked visions of the Jimi Hendrix Experience as channeled through white British kids. More revisionism followed with Melomania (1992), but however more tranquil and melodic that record was, the band found themselves treading on pre-established ground and disbanded shortly thereafter.
