Shelby Tries on "Suit"

Singer-songwriter's new album due in May

Grammy-winner Shelby Lynne will release her ninth studio album, Suit Yourself, on May 24th.

The self-produced follow-up to 2003's Identity Crisis, Suit Yourself will feature guest spots by legendary country musicians such as guitarist Robbie Turner (Willie Nelson) and Tony Joe White (Tina Turner, Waylon Jennings), with whom Lynne collaborated on his latest album, The Heroines. Also making appearances are Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' keyboardist Benmont Tench and former Wallflowers guitarist Michael Ward.

Among the tracks on the album are a cover of White's "Old Times Sake" and the poignant "Johnny Met June," recorded upon Lynne's learning of Johnny Cash's death. Lynne, a longtime Cash fan, will appear as his mother in the upcoming biopic Walk the Line.

Lynne broke into the mainstream with her 2000 country-rock crossover I Am Shelby Lynne, which earned her a Best New Artist Grammy. Ironically, it was her sixth album.

The release of Suit Yourself will be followed by a 2005 tour.
