Sneaking up with a teasing intro, Tonex rips this LP open and delivers. Recorded live in San Diego, these 37 tracks are so well mixed, you hear one groove sliding into the next. The choir loft meets concert-level funkology, directed by a kid who clearly cut his teeth on Prince. Tonex is more than an able apprentice; he makes the doves cry.
