Tristania
Tristania is a Norwegian doom metal band prone to passages of great beauty with ethereal female vocals and lots of keyboards.
Combining goth and classical themes with very brutal metal,Tristania has remained relevant since their inception in 1996.
The band was formed by Einar Moen and Morten Veland in 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. They enlisted female vocalist Vibeke Stene.
Over the years, the band has slowly moved into a more progressive metal direction, perhaps due to the departure of Veland.
The band's 1999 album, "Beyond the Veil," is considered one of the high water marks of goth metal.
