An appealing mash-up of bouncy breakbeats and acid house attitude, Big Beat grew from the lager-soaked surroundings of the original Heavenly Social club in London (resident DJs: the Chemical Brothers) to become the defining dancefloor sound of the student crowd in the mid to late 1990s. The movement even spawned a globally recognized superstar in the form of Fatboy Slim.
