Folk is a broad term for populist, traditional acoustic music. Rooted in rural culture, it grew to include popular solo artists Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. It also encompasses the traditional folk of the Celtic nations, and the classic folk of songwriters such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger.
